"Golden Gate Bridge", "Golden Gate" or "Suicide Bridge". Incredibly huge, beautiful, and magical. Seeing in person what you've seen a million times in American movies is priceless! By the way, why "Suicide Bridge"? 2-4 suicide cases a month, dozens of cases a year, and thousands over its entire existence. Now it is constantly patrolled. Telephones are installed along the spans to connect with a crisis center. Nearby are signs assuring that there is hope. And all this gives a sense of an unsolved mystery, especially at night. P.S. By the way, the police didn't let us reach even the middle of the bridge. Catching up with us in their small special vehicle, they asked us to turn back and followed us from behind the whole time to make sure we definitely reached the start of the bridge.

Lyon functions as an industrial and culinary counterweight to Paris.
Urban life centers on the peninsula between the rivers, flanked by the steep slopes of Fourvière and Croix-Rousse. Medieval and Renaissance quarters feature traboules, narrow covered passageways built through residential apartment buildings so silk weavers could move bolts of cloth without exposing them to rain. Today these passages remain functioning pedestrian thoroughfares between hillside stairwells and lower river quays.

Culinary culture grew out of working-class traditions rather than aristocratic banquets. Local dining centers on traditional bouchon bistros, established by female cooks who prepared hearty offal dishes, boiled sausages, and pike dumplings for silk laborers. Modern residents encounter strict meal schedules, as independent kitchens close between lunch and dinner service and rarely accommodate walk-ins during peak evening hours.
Settling in requires navigating tight housing qualifications and distinct municipal boundaries. Private landlords routinely demand proof of domestic earnings or state-backed rental guarantees before reviewing a dossier. Newcomers frequently avoid peninsula premiums by leasing apartments in adjacent Villeurbanne, preserving direct metro access to the central business hub around Part-Dieu while expanding their living space.

Source : Wikipedia · WikivoyageWhat are the historic traboules in Lyon?
Traboules are covered pedestrian passages cutting directly through private courtyards to connect adjoining streets. The majority of these passages are situated in Vieux Lyon and along the slopes of Croix-Rousse.

New York, for me it is like the city of the entire world. It is huge, words just cannot describe how much. When I arrived there for the first time, I didn't even need time to blend into this city; it felt like I was born there. New York is definitely on my list of favorite cities. Many people like it, but some feel the opposite. When you walk around it, you involuntarily want to walk like you're in a music video. Sit at Starbucks on Fifth Avenue and discuss important business. And at night, ride the subway, listen to music, and not think about anyone. A city where you want to get lost. Being there, I thought about how great it would be to spend Christmas here. I can only imagine what the New Year's atmosphere is like here. While I'm young, I would like to live there, get lost in the hustle and bustle, party in clubs, and attend business meetings. And in my old age, move somewhere closer to the ocean. By the way, I have been to New York twice. And both times alone. But that didn't make my trip worse or boring, except that there was no one to take photos (just kidding). As a true fan of "Sex and the City," the first thing I did was go to Carrie Bradshaw's house; I walked all over Manhattan, but I found it! Yes, that staircase, just like in the movies, even that little street is so cozy. I'm leaving the address in case you are as much of a series fan as I am. 64 Perry Street I didn't have a specific route as such. I just went wherever my eyes took me, and you know, along the way I met all the famous places like the Brooklyn Bridge, Chinatown, Wall Street, the 9/11 Memorial, and I even saw the Statue of Liberty from afar. In New York, I rented a room. There are many options for housing, but I recommend Airbnb: you download it, find accommodation, pay, and live. It's all very simple. There is an alternative, the well-known Booking.com; there are also many options, but not always affordable. The only thing is, choose your neighborhood carefully. Of course, Manhattan or Brooklyn would be best, but under no circumstances the Bronx. You understand, the city is huge, so there are many ghetto areas. Another option is Queens. Personally, I lived there; the neighborhood is not bad, it's just a bit far, but it is close to JFK airport. For me, it was convenient because I was flying out from there. In my memories, New York is over a million steps first and foremost, and then people with a crazy pace of life, homeless people on the sidewalks, street food, and a million tourists. But even despite all this, it's such a unique, such a beloved New York.

And so, the day arrived. San Francisco airport, we meet up, seeing a friend for the first time, and our friend was there to meet us too. We set off in search of our hotel, which was located in the city center, 10 minutes from the park near the Golden Gate. For three days, without feeling our feet, we walked up and down, waiting to see what the new day would bring; it is a magical, windy, mesmerizing city that sticks in your memory. The bus from San Francisco to Los Angeles greeted us with warm sun; about 7 hours on the road and the weather will pleasantly surprise you with hot, scorching sun. The hotel was in the center again—why I emphasize this is because it is very important to have convenient access to local attractions. We spent the first day at the famous Santa Monica Beach; we got sunburned, went crazy, and simply couldn't believe we were in Los Angeles, the City of Angels and the film industry. We spent the entire next day at Universal Studios; I feel like I made up for my whole childhood there, so many emotions... Ahhh... I would repeat a trip to this place a million and a million times! On the final third day in LA, we saw everything we could: the Walk of Fame, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, where we stumbled upon a Cadillac commercial shoot and 'borrowed' a real Harley Davidson from a police officer, who, with a smile and all his kindness, let us have a mini-photoshoot on his motorcycle. And then that evening arrived, the brightest of the trip; we went to the most cinematic beach in LA, Venice Beach. It was a long ride, about an hour and a half, and there was nothing to do on the bus, so we chatted with everyone around us. My longest conversation was with a pleasant man with whom we just talked about the city, the people, and America in general. I also told him quite a few interesting and even surprising things about Russia. At the end, a shocking piece of news awaited me: he was an actor and producer in one, who just rides the bus and is happy about it, happy to watch people, saying it helps with his work. An actor who took part in the filming of The Green Mile... And there IT was – the beach. Filming of everyone and everything, a bunch of cameras, surfers, skaters, an atmosphere worth a million... We just froze... Until the moment a wave covered all our things... We spent a long time happily cleaning them of sand... And satisfied, we headed to our next transfer: Los Angeles – Las Vegas. Where another three amazing days awaited us. Las Vegas turned out to be even hotter, but it greeted us with a pleasant rain, during which we were able to sleep a little in the morning; it was necessary for a new charge. Life begins there in the evening; naturally, we left some N-th amount of money in the slots and roulette. You can't leave without that. We went to the best show in the world, Le Reve The Dream; it was something else, I had tears of delight watching this show. And we spent the entire next day at the Grand Canyon; we were simply speechless... Dreams come true... That is how my summer went. And this is probably one-hundredth of what I want to say... I will remember this summer for a long time. We finished our last day in Las Vegas with shopping—well, how could we not, we are girls after all... And we flew off in different directions... We were all from different cities, but what we experienced will bind us forever... And we will definitely meet again!!!
I want to dedicate this page to the animals living in Cape Town. No, these aren't crocodiles, zebras, or lions. Everything is much simpler! I want to share my observations with you. First of all, I haven't seen a single cat yet. NOT A SINGLE ONE! It's amazing. Did the lions eat them all? Secondly, I haven't seen A SINGLE stray dog! That's easier to explain because it's a resort city, lots of tourists, and so on. Thirdly, there are just millions of seagulls here! They are always screaming and looking for food. Circling right over my head! Also, in the morning, some bird I don't know keeps belting out songs. At first, I thought it was a person screaming... but no, thank God, it's a bird! And finally, about pet dogs. In the evening on the promenade, there seem to be more adorable doggos than people) 7 of them per 10 square meters! I'm serious! So many. And all sorts of breeds! All friendly and cheerful)) There are also sharks here. Haha) Well, not right here, but in the ocean. Far away from me, thank the gods! There is a whole warning system in place if a cute little shark suddenly appears near the shore. That's where my experience with the animal world of Africa ends for now. But I believe there is more to come)
July 13, 2010 (13:30) It was raining. I'm at the new place now. It's a baseroom. There's even a dog here. Watching LOST. $400 a month split between 4 people. Albina and Lyonya brought our stuff here – it's NorthEast. I've been living in a hostel for free for the last few days, sleeping in different rooms. I want to buy a cooler and sell water on the road. Costs: cooler – $30, dry ice – $10, water $4 for 24 bottles. I'll sell them for $1 a bottle, I think it'll work out. This morning we almost burned down the hostel before leaving. Egor poured too much oil into the pan and it caught fire – he put the pan under water, the flame was 3 meters high – I grabbed the fire extinguisher – but some Mexican guy had already put it out) But it was fun, actually. Last night I wrote a description of Filya for the contest on exchange.iec.ru. Seems pretty good. I think I'll buy the cooler today or tomorrow. Ilyukha is heading home after all – it's a pity, but that's his decision. It's tough here this year, but you have to hang in there – the point of the trip is to test yourself.
I really love seaside cities. Baltimore is a very beautiful, large city. Its main attraction is the seaport. The first thing visitors probably notice near the waterfront is a large, powerful ship. You can also take a ride on water taxis. They travel from station to station; you can get off wherever you want, explore the area, get back on, and get off at another station, and you can spend the whole day like that. Also, Baltimore has a large aquarium, which houses a great variety of marine animals. They also show a film there where you wear special glasses, thanks to which various special effects are produced during the screening. You feel the wind blowing, someone touching you, etc. There are also many architectural museums and very unusual and beautiful churches. A kind man told us the history of the city's millionaires and showed us their statues.

"New York is the capital of the world." That is what Pope John Paul II called this city. Russian poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko called it humanity compressed into a city. And indeed, there is perhaps not a single nation in the world that is not represented in New York. Over the last four centuries, New York City has attracted strong and energetic people with its unlimited opportunities for success and wealth. Through the efforts of millions, the city has been turned into a living museum. You can explore it for months, or you can see it in just a few hours.
