aéroport international de Tallinn: ce qu’il y a autour, comment y aller et quand venir · 2026

Residents settle along the Ülemiste rail corridor to keep the runway tram on their daily transit route, bypassing taxi queues whenever regional trains or continental flights pull in.

Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport operates as the largest aviation hub in Estonia.

The airfield occupies former industrial land beside Lake Ülemiste, named in honour of former president Lennart Meri. Early soft ground restricted runway use in spring and autumn, forcing flights to rely on seaplanes stationed on the lake or touching down on frozen winter ice. Engineers resolved seasonal ground closures by pouring triangular concrete runways that permitted takeoffs and landings in multiple directions.

Urban connectivity shapes daily life around the terminal. Tram tracks pass through a dedicated tunnel beneath the railway to deliver passengers directly from arrivals into downtown districts. Registered municipal residents ride these city trams without paying fares. Nearby Ülemiste station adds regional rail departures, while suburban buses link the passenger terminal to residential boroughs like Peetri and Viimsi.
