Sobre el lugar

A permanent brick substructure preserved this Beaux Arts exposition hall while the rest of the temporary fairgrounds vanished.

Charles Atwood designed the structure for the World Columbian Exposition under the direction of D. H. Burnham and Company. Built with brick beneath its fair plaster, the hall outlasted the temporary fair pavilions in Jackson Park. The exterior gained limestone cladding to retain its Beaux Arts profile, while Alfred Shaw created a replacement interior in the Art Moderne style. The Field Museum occupied the halls before moving north.
