Sobre el lugar

Abovyan Street stands as the earliest planned thoroughfare in central Yerevan, shaped by civic planning and prominent residences.

The corridor was established as the initial street in Yerevan built under a formal urban plan, approved under regional viceroyalty administration. Named after governor Mikhail Astafyev, the route took the popular local name Astafyan after residents altered the official imperial suffix. Soviet authorities later renamed the thoroughfare in honor of the father of modern Armenian literature, securing its place in civic history.
