Γουόλ Στριτ: τι υπάρχει τριγύρω, πώς να φτάσετε και πότε να πάτε · 2026

Residents navigate relentless commuter foot traffic around underground transit entrances by day, then inherit completely empty stone canyons when trading floors clear.

Wall Street concentrates global finance along a narrow colonial corridor.

The corridor extends from Broadway east toward South Street, anchoring Lower Manhattan as a global center for banking and financial technology. Heavy institutional architecture encloses the roadway, turning the street into a metonym for American capital markets. Dense crowds of commuters surge through the canyon during trading hours, while residential life remains concentrated in converted high-rises above the stone facades.

Dutch colonial authorities originally built a defensive wooden palisade and earthen ditch along this line to guard New Amsterdam against land attacks. Enslaved Africans and colonial settlers provided the construction labor. Fortifications were later reinforced with stone bastions named Hollandia and Zeelandia before demolition crews cleared the barrier, reusing the bastion masonry to construct a new municipal hall.

Daily movement relies on subway stations built directly beneath the roadway at Broadway, William Street, and Broad Street. Eastern ferry terminals handle waterborne passenger routes, supplemented by a waterfront heliport. Surface buses avoid the narrow street entirely and run only on crossing avenues, forcing residents and workers to complete local travel on foot through security gates and pedestrian zones.

Hello, New York!

In August, two friends and I decided to take a trip to New York! I was in New York on the very first night when I arrived. Now, we were planning to walk around all the city's landmarks! We asked our employer for two days off and set off on our journey! What you need to do in advance! (All based on personal experience) If you work in a hotel, there might be a discount for employees. You need to talk to your employer - that's how we managed to book a hotel with a 50% discount. Also, for those working in the food industry, there might be discounts within the restaurant/cafe chain. Plan your route in advance. Which places you want to visit and how far apart they are. This is a must to make sure you see everything and don't regret missing out on something at the end. It's better to book a hotel/hostel in the center. Because taking the subway is difficult - there are many lines, they are confusing, and you might not figure it out right away. We lost a whole hour because we went to the wrong district. The closer you are to the center, the more expensive taxis are. A single ride can cost from 40 to 60 dollars. Check for free ferries/museums/exhibitions. I didn't do this in advance, but by pure luck, we managed to get on a free ferry. We saw Manhattan from the side, and the view was simply divine. Definitely keep in mind that moving around the city takes a lot of energy. You get tired twice as fast, so you will need more food. Therefore, budget money for food and water so that you can be comfortable and not push your body too hard! During our mini-trip, I visited Times Square. I had dinner at Hard Rock Café, saw the memorial fountain at the site of the Twin Towers, took a ferry to another island, walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, visited the Statue of Liberty, and made a wish on Wall Street. I was breathless from the reality of it all! My dreams were coming true literally every hour.

I want to be part of it, New York, New York

New York, for me it is like the city of the entire world. It is huge, words just cannot describe how much. When I arrived there for the first time, I didn't even need time to blend into this city; it felt like I was born there. New York is definitely on my list of favorite cities. Many people like it, but some feel the opposite. When you walk around it, you involuntarily want to walk like you're in a music video. Sit at Starbucks on Fifth Avenue and discuss important business. And at night, ride the subway, listen to music, and not think about anyone. A city where you want to get lost. Being there, I thought about how great it would be to spend Christmas here. I can only imagine what the New Year's atmosphere is like here. While I'm young, I would like to live there, get lost in the hustle and bustle, party in clubs, and attend business meetings. And in my old age, move somewhere closer to the ocean. By the way, I have been to New York twice. And both times alone. But that didn't make my trip worse or boring, except that there was no one to take photos (just kidding). As a true fan of "Sex and the City," the first thing I did was go to Carrie Bradshaw's house; I walked all over Manhattan, but I found it! Yes, that staircase, just like in the movies, even that little street is so cozy. I'm leaving the address in case you are as much of a series fan as I am. 64 Perry Street I didn't have a specific route as such. I just went wherever my eyes took me, and you know, along the way I met all the famous places like the Brooklyn Bridge, Chinatown, Wall Street, the 9/11 Memorial, and I even saw the Statue of Liberty from afar. In New York, I rented a room. There are many options for housing, but I recommend Airbnb: you download it, find accommodation, pay, and live. It's all very simple. There is an alternative, the well-known Booking.com; there are also many options, but not always affordable. The only thing is, choose your neighborhood carefully. Of course, Manhattan or Brooklyn would be best, but under no circumstances the Bronx. You understand, the city is huge, so there are many ghetto areas. Another option is Queens. Personally, I lived there; the neighborhood is not bad, it's just a bit far, but it is close to JFK airport. For me, it was convenient because I was flying out from there. In my memories, New York is over a million steps first and foremost, and then people with a crazy pace of life, homeless people on the sidewalks, street food, and a million tourists. But even despite all this, it's such a unique, such a beloved New York.

1 DAY - TRAVELING AROUND THE USA

Our first day was spent in New York. Although we had a quick look around when we arrived in the States, this time we decided to thoroughly explore the most interesting spots. We left our luggage in storage for $6 per suitcase (for the day) using the BagNB app. We got right up to the Empire State Building—New York's very first skyscraper—and walked through the main park, where we were caught in a hailstorm, resulting in wet shoes. We turned red in front of the National Museum of American History staff when, instead of the stated ticket price ($23), we only paid $5😅 Finally, we tried American McDonald's! The burger was very greasy, but the fries were delightful with their crispy texture (though for the price, you could buy 6 kg in Minsk). Then we went to the Hudson Yards area, where we found modern architecture led by a staircase-observation deck structure that looks like a superhero mask😂 After about 100 photos of that staircase, we walked to the 9/11 Memorial (~6 km). The place holds so many tears and human sorrow, yet people sit on the memorial and smile for photos 🤷🏼‍♀️ Next to it is a transport hub shaped like a flying bird. If @alexandramitroshina is to be believed, it is also a sundial that projects holograms of the Twin Towers on September 11th. Not far from the memorial is New York's busiest business street—Wall Street. Unfortunately, it was already dark by the time we got there, so we didn't catch the busiest people 😅 The last point on our route was the Statue of Liberty, which we tried so hard to reach that day. But since we had a flight in a couple of hours, we didn't have time to take a boat ride, but that wasn't a problem! There is a park near the port that we went to. Since the statue is about 3 km away from there, we were able to enjoy the view of the statue ☺️ Since our flight was at 6 AM, we decided not to book accommodation and spent the night at the airport. The last shuttle was leaving in 1.5 hours, so we headed to the airport... https://www.instagram.com/alexandramitroshina/

NEW YORK

After a month, it was time for my first travels. My most desired city was NYC. That was exactly where I dreamed of celebrating my birthday. Round-trip bus tickets from Peter Pan cost $140. New York made an incredible impression on me. It is a city that charms you from the very first minutes. It mesmerizes with the scale of its buildings and structures, amazes with its frantic rhythm, the incredible flow of people, and the contrast expressed in the combination of luxury life with marginalized people sleeping on the streets and piles of trash. New York is a real concrete jungle. Central Park is probably one of the few places with greenery and trees. Overall, I was delighted with the city. Must-visit places in NYC (with addresses): *TIP FOR FUTURE PARTICIPANTS: to make it easier to navigate in unfamiliar places, download offline maps) Excursion “Panoramic view from the 86th floor of the Empire State Building” - $41 (20 W 34th St, New York) One-hour ferry tour to the Statue of Liberty - $30. One of the most affordable. Includes arrival at the destination, a minute stop, and return to the pier. National September 11 Memorial & Museum. A complex built on the site of the destroyed World Trade Center (180 Greenwich St, New York) Brooklyn Bridge (Brooklyn Bridge, New York, NY 10038) Central Park (Central park) Times Square (Manhattan, NY 10036) Manhattan District 5th Avenue (a street where boutiques of famous designers are located; a symbol of American prestige and luxury) Wall Street — financial center (Wall Street) Grand Central Terminal (89 E 42nd St, New York) Broadway. Here, among the skyscrapers, are the offices of the largest American and global corporations. (Broadway) Rockefeller Center — a place known for the fact that the very same Christmas tree is installed there annually;). (45 Rockefeller Plaza, New York) St. Patrick's Cathedral (5th Ave, New York, NY 10022)

New York is the capital of the world

It is surprising that our acquaintance began with the biggest loss during our entire stay in the USA. We didn't get into a yellow taxi. Never, I insist, I beg, I implore you, do not repeat our mistakes, unless you want to take a ride from the airport for 10,000 rubles. To say we were in shock is an understatement. However, it soon became clear that such a "trifle" could no longer spoil our mood. We arrived in New York late at night, so we started exploring the city the next day, during which we managed to see almost all the most famous landmarks of the city: the Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, Central Park, and Times Square. Can I tell you something unusual about my impressions of this city? I'm not sure. For me, it was very similar to Moscow, with the same crowds of people, kilometer-long traffic jams, and a bunch of strange smells and sounds. In Times Square, I was struck by how many people with different ideas, views on life, and different goals can fit into such a relatively small space. There were street dancers, young rappers shoving their CDs at anyone, political activists speaking out against another idea of Donald Trump, followers of various religious denominations calling on everyone to live in peace and harmony, but only under the name of their God. Well, think about it, how is it not like Moscow? However, among all this, there is something in New York that makes it exactly New York – this is undoubtedly Central Park. A quiet, peaceful place, entering the gates of which you forget about the hustle and bustle of the day, about all the problems, about everything that distracts from the true beauty of the world. Squirrels run here, you can hear birds singing, and if you stop and close your eyes, you can hear the true breath of New York, passing from tree to tree, steady, calm, soothing.

New-York

New York is an endless topic of conversation, a special world that, it seemed to me, lives by its own rules. It is also the most popular tourist city in the world. There are many places in New York that are a must-visit. But, unfortunately, I only managed to visit some of them. I will start, perhaps, with that tragic place known to the whole world – World Trade Center, where the Twin Towers once stood. Two fountains, symbolizing the tears and pain of the American people, serve as a reminder of those events. I think that anyone who has had the chance to visit New York will definitely visit this place. World Trade Center And how could I miss Lower Manhattan, Wall Street, and Times Square? Despite my limited time, I couldn't help but go there, and also take the opportunity to see the Statue of Liberty with my own eyes. The Brooklyn Bridge, all lit up, which connects two parts of the city – Brooklyn and Manhattan – left a huge impression. The narrow street of Wall Street led us to the huge bronze statue of a bull, which is the unofficial symbol of New York's Financial District and represents strength and assertiveness. Everyone strives to touch it for financial luck, which, of course, we did too)) Nighttime Brooklyn bridge Times Square is the most popular place in New York. A stunning sight – lights, advertisements, crowds of people, boutiques, theaters – Times Square combines all of this. I was amazed by the four-story M&M’s store with huge capsules of colorful M&M’s candies. I also really wanted to visit Central Park, Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden, but I didn't manage to… Well, that's a reason to return to New York and definitely see the rest with my own eyes ))) Times Square – pure madness M&M’s – that's what I love)
