Recruits arrive from Catalonia, wider Spanish regions, and nations including Cameroon, Senegal, Brazil, and Argentina, living away from their families. While commentators have compared the facility to the fabled Ajax academy, pointing to graduates such as Lionel Messi and Gerard Piqué, day-to-day life remains austere.
