Über den Ort

The granite residence in Bronzeville preserves the home where Ida B. Wells conducted her civil rights work and journalism.

Architect Joseph Thain designed the Romanesque Revival structure using ashlar granite along Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The exterior features a prominent corner turret, round-arch window openings, and an entrance deeply set behind a segmented stone arch. The interior historically held ground-floor gathering rooms and an upper ballroom, though the property was later converted into private residential apartments.
