About the place

A repurposed postal distribution hub anchors Toronto professional basketball and hockey.

The arena stands on Bay Street in downtown Toronto as the home base for the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Raptors. Professional hockey and basketball matches dominate the winter schedule, while the Toronto Marlies, Raptors development affiliates, and the Toronto Sceptres take the floor for selected fixtures. Non-sporting dates bring touring concerts, political conventions, and competitive video game tournaments to the main bowl.

Architect Charles Dolphin blended Art Deco and Art Moderne styles into the concrete structure, linking it directly to railway platforms through an underground tunnel. Historic limestone bas-relief carvings by Louis Temporale remain on the exterior facade, tracing Canadian communication from messengers to aviation.
