About the place

Waterfront attractions define the river rim while residential neighborhoods spread peacefully inland.

The settlement fronts the massive Horseshoe Falls along the southern rim of the gorge. Queen Victoria Park lines the Canadian shore with manicured gardens and cliffside platforms looking across toward the American cataracts. Underground tunnels at Journey Behind the Falls descend beside the plunging water, while high-powered floodlights illuminate the spray for several hours after dusk every evening.

Beyond the immediate riverbank, daily life separates sharply from the tourist core. The Skylon Tower observation deck provides clear sightlines stretching toward Toronto, while the Whirlpool Aero Car suspends passengers directly over the gorge rapids. My summer adventure in the USA (Work and Travel 2018)

I am going to tell all my trip to the USA and how was it going. First of all, I found a couchsurfer, who invited me in his house for two days. It was my first impression, that man was the best person who I have ever seen. He spoke a lot, played games, ate plenty of food, even made a party with barbecue. After that I moved out to my job. Honestly, I was unsatisfied with it. Employer and housing were perfect, but job was horrible. It includes cleaning toilet, bathrooms, cabins etc. InterExchange helped me and I did quit that job and found and started work in windows cleaning company. That job was amazing I cleaned mansions what cost I believe at least million dollar, I had funny team and chilling time with company. I still remember jokes of mine team leader. My team was generally slav people, so we even understand each other in our native languages. I have been working there for 2 and half months. On day off we usually go to the Beach, ride bikes, go shopping, make a little parties. I found so much friends from around the world, did learn about their food and culture. After middle of August I started to travel. I was in New York city, Pennsylvania, Connecticut states, Niagara Falls . And the main point I made one of my dream became a truth. It is skydiving in New Jersey. I do not know so many words to describe my feelings about that. It was so exciting, I still remember those feelings and impressions. Broadly speaking, I have one advice to participants of Work and Travel program. It is do not focus on earning money, guys, you will earn enough trust me, better to spend this money on something that gave you impression to your heart. I have never regretted about each dollar what I spent. It was the best my summer in my whole life. Good luck guys!

China trip

Hey! Hello, China! Hello, Chinese buses! Glad to see you, Chinese guides! And in this case, it's not bad, as you might have thought. Every bus had built-in air conditioning, and the guides spoke both Chinese and English (Chinese is such a funny language, you have to hear it, it's hard to describe in words). And all this for a ridiculous price. But let's start from the very beginning, or rather, from my return to the "city that never sleeps." I bought 3 tickets online for a 3-day tour: "New York, 1000 Islands, Niagara Falls, Washington DC, Philadelphia, New York." They were running a promotion at the time: buy 2 tickets and get the 3rd one free (only on the condition that the 3rd tour participant stays in the same hotel room as the other 2). Again, with the help of the World Wide Web, I found 2 people willing to join me on this mini-trip. Their names were Kristina and Tyoma. At 7 a.m., the buses pulled up to Chinatown, we threw our bags into the luggage compartment, and set off toward the unknown.

The final days before the travel. Semi-finals.

My summer in America is coming to an end. In just a couple of days, I'm heading off on a trip across the vast states) I can't even believe I'm leaving so soon. It feels like just recently I arrived, was getting settled, afraid to speak English, looking for housing, running late for work... At first, time dragged on terribly slowly, and I thought this summer would never end. But the closer it got to the end of summer, the faster time flew by. My route is already set: Niagara Falls(?); Boston, MA; Washington, DC; Miami, FL; Key West, FL; New York, NY. Niagara is still a question mark, I'm not sure if I'll go. But the rest of my route is confirmed. I've already found travel companions for Boston and Washington, so it won't be as boring) Also, in Washington, I plan to meet an acquaintance of mine who has a very interesting life story. She was born in Russia, in St. Petersburg, but was raised in an orphanage until she was 6. Then she was adopted by an American family. Now she lives near Washington and is trying to remember the Russian language. After Washington, I'll fly to Miami, where I also have an acquaintance) This guy is American, studied political relations in college, has been to Russia, loves Russia very much, and wants to build super friendly relations between America and Russia) In short, he's also a very interesting person) I met both him and the girl from Washington on a language learning site when I was trying to improve my English) I'm going to Key West to relax - to lie on the beach all day and do nothing, pure bliss) and then, for the finale, I'll swing by New York, spend my last full day in America there, and the next day I'll fly back home... Transport tickets are already booked, and I'll be staying via Couchsurfing. Although I haven't made arrangements with anyone yet, I need to get moving, otherwise I'll be left without a place to stay. Honestly, I don't really want to go anywhere, I want to spend the remaining 2 weeks in New York, walking around, enjoying the city... Despite the fact that I lived near it, I still haven't walked around enough, there's so much more I want to see... By the way, it's not really common to travel in America) Often, when I tell Americans about my upcoming plans, I hear something like, 'Oh, I haven't left Long Island in my whole life.' And I'm not even talking about the fact that I came here all alone from another country - they just don't get it here)) Although I've changed a bit here myself. I've become Americanized)) I don't know about all the states, but here people don't worry at all about how they look. Many even go to the store in pajamas and it's considered normal) And now I've fallen into the same routine. Back in Moscow, I used to get all dolled up before leaving the house... here, I just don't care how I look) It's like being at a summer cottage - you don't care about your appearance) Well, in principle, Long Island can be called a village, just without the livestock)) I'm packing my suitcases. I'll be on my way soon. I feel like I'm going to miss these places. Every time I go to work, I look at the landscapes around me... and I realize how close these places have become to me. I'm sure I'll miss all these streets, shops, trees, roads... Again, deep down, there's that same fear that enveloped me at the beginning of the trip, I think it's the fear of the unknown. It's not clear at all where I'll be living during the trip, and where fate will take me... But this time it's not a paralyzing feeling, just a light shade that only spurs me on to adventures) So, off I go)

Niagara Falls.

Niagara Falls, New York. The next stop on our route was Niagara Falls. Stepping off the bus in the town of the same name, we could only say in unison, "So this is what a godforsaken place looks like." After walking to the student hostel, the address of which was written in our US hostel guidebook, we realized that we had been "smart" enough to book two nights, which meant three days. Three days in a place where the only thing to see is Niagara Falls. There were no other attractions there. Well, it was too late to change anything, so we went to see one of the wonders of the world. Perhaps these places are called wonders of the world because when you look at them, emotions overwhelm you from within, and words are simply unnecessary to express them. All I can write is that this place rightfully bears the proud title of one of the wonders of the world. I couldn't get enough of it. I couldn't believe it was right in front of me. We walked around the entire area along the waterfall. We watched this beauty tirelessly and couldn't stop marveling. Adding to the charm is the very interesting feeling of standing there and looking at another country, with only the waterfall separating you. And that's Canada. The woman who owned the hostel said that they turn on the lights after nine in the evening and that there would be fireworks tonight. How could we miss that? We decided we couldn't. We made it to the fireworks. There were a lot of people. They turned on the lights. It really is very beautiful. The recently white waterfall was now flowing in all the colors of the rainbow. You look at it and it's as if pink water is flowing down, then green, yellow... Sitting on a bench next to this beauty, we just admired it. Still under the impression of the miracle we had seen, we were walking to the hostel. We had almost arrived, just had to turn and walk about 100 meters. Someone was walking behind us, but we didn't even look back. Then he ran up and started snatching the bag from the hands of my Miss Universe. He pushed her, she fell, but she still resisted. But of course, the forces were unequal, and after three heroic seconds, the bag was in his hands, and he ran toward a dark alley. I didn't even have time to understand what happened. It all happened so fast that I didn't even have time to do anything; I was just stunned. We ran after him. But even if we had caught up with him, which was theoretically possible, what would we have done? This thought swirled in my head. And we stopped, realizing the futility of our actions. He disappeared, and with him her passport, credit card, cash, a semi-professional camera bought in the States, a video camera, an iPod and a phone, tickets for our further planned trip to Boston, return tickets to New York, and everything else (girls will probably understand how important a girl's bag with everything she needs is). It was like an abyss. We were god knows where, and no one could help you. And you have to somehow build a bridge yourself to get to the other side. We ran to the hostel. The international phone wouldn't work. We didn't have any change. The hostel owner was apparently sleeping soundly; we couldn't find her anywhere. Ringing the bell was a waste of time. We had to block the card. So, in search of a phone, we ran to the nearest bar, practically next to the scene of the incident. Miss Universe stayed to call the police, and I, having exchanged change for a payphone, ran back to the hostel to call Miss Universe's mom. The payphone never worked. After about 15 minutes, it dawned on me: just send her an SMS. Everything brilliant is simple. And why didn't we think of it right away? We had to go back to the bar for my Miss Universe. It was scary, you can't imagine how much. Gathering my courage, I prepared to leave. And then my favorite coincidence... Two young men walked into the hostel. I asked them if they could walk with me to the nearest bar and explained the situation. Thank God they didn't refuse. On

Niagara Falls , New York

I don't know why, out of our whole group, I was the only one dying to go to Niagara. Maybe I found this little trip very romantic, maybe Niagara Falls was a dream for me, or maybe the others just didn't have the money...=)) But jokes aside, going to Niagara was a spontaneous decision, I'd say super spontaneous. We finally found out that we actually had 2 days off, and the decision on how to spend them came to mind on its own! I had wanted to go for a long time and already knew where to buy a tour online. But! There were no tours for tomorrow, only for the day after tomorrow(( And that didn't work for us. Deciding that another opportunity wouldn't arise, we headed to Greyhound for tickets just to Niagara, even though that option was terribly unprofitable!! Judge for yourself, the tour costs $135 (and there are bonuses there too), while just getting there and back on Greyhound is $150!!! Absurd! Good thing I'm a smart cookie!! Because after getting completely confused with the weeks and days, we made a mistake in our calculations and, as it turned out, we could go the day after tomorrow so that no one would get fired from work, and there were tours for the day after tomorrow! So, having prepared the credit card, we went to the site gotobus.com and placed an order (by the way, this site has a bunch of tours all over America! I highly recommend it, the prices are normal and the selection of destinations is wide!). Do you know what was funny? Since this tour was bought from the Chinese, Angela (our guide) spoke Chinese first, and then only English. In general, a beautiful language... xin bin luo ya, xiao bin)) 8 hours on the bus... it seemed like what could be worse!! But we didn't lose heart, since we booked the tickets last, we got the last seats on the bus... and since the whole bus wasn't packed, we each spread out over 3 seats and slept peacefully for all 8 hours)) well, we only woke up when something went numb and during stops. It also helped that the previous 3 nights were not rich in sleep))) I couldn't even imagine that when I saw this indescribable sight, I would experience such, such!!! No one doubted that this beautiful waterfall would take our breath away. The first excursion was on a boat, we got soaked to the bone!!! These raincoats didn't help much, especially when you take them off. Then, we went to "touch the waterfall." You walk on steps right by the waterfall and can touch the stones, the water... They give you slippers in addition to raincoats, they are so cool, I even brought them to Russia. In one place, there is a small platform, and if you go close to the railing, the waterfall will lash right at you... it even hurts! Such power!! I decided to do it... delight!!!! I didn't want to leave the waterfall at all... I wanted to watch and watch... But after walking around a lot, a Russian student wanted to eat. Not so fast! The two of us only had 6 dollars in cash in our wallets, the rest was on cards. It would seem, what's the problem? But, within a kilometer, probably not a single place accepted cards! It would seem again, what's the problem! There are plenty of ATMs... But what Russian student would want to pay a $2.5 commission!! Maybe some would, who earns a lot or is so hungry that they would do it, but not me!!)))) And we set off on a journey to find a place where we could eat and pay with a card. An hour later, completely lost, we stumbled upon a burger restaurant!! It's a real restaurant, with a very beautiful atmosphere, where the menu is only burgers! I have never eaten such burgers! They are very tasty, they cooked them for us for 15-20 minutes, they were huge and melted in your mouth)). Do you know how long we wanted to eat?))) Angela said that on special days they launch fireworks over the waterfall, but since it was a simple weekday, unfortunately, we wouldn't have the honor of seeing it. But an hour later, she told the joyful news - there's fireworks today!!! And so... Niagara Falls at night, with
