About the place

Decagonal brick architecture defines the memorial raised for Momine Khatun by the Eldiguzid rulers.

Atabeg Jahan Pahlavan commissioned architect Ajami ibn Abubekr Nakhchivani to construct a grand mausoleum honoring his mother, Momine Khatun. The architect had already completed the burial vault of Yusuf ibn Kuseyir nearby. The structure became known locally as the Atabek Dome and formed the center of a larger historical building complex that expanded under her younger son, Kyzyl-Arslan.

The decagonal exterior features intricate geometric brickwork patterns alongside inscribed passages from the Koran. While the upper tower originally rose higher than the present surviving masonry, the standing monument preserves its exterior wall surfaces and detailed craftsmanship. Long-term visitors find the site integrated into regular neighborhood routines without specialized access barriers or ticket queues.
