关于此地

Fairmount anchors the boulevard with classical stone terraces and galleries.

Fairmount terminates the Benjamin Franklin Parkway with a monumental neoclassical complex built from Minnesota dolomite. Julian Abele adapted Greek temple columns into the main entrances, balancing vast outdoor stairways with detailed classical proportions. The site stands apart from the Center City grid atop an old reservoir hill.

Most newcomers identify the facade with cinema history and marathon runners, but the interior halls function as a deep repository established originally during the nineteenth-century centennial movement.

Temporary disruptions define the surrounding neighborhood during civic events. The broad parkway steps host championship sports parades, concerts, and public rallies, cutting off local traffic loops and turning residential perimeter paths into crowded transit corridors for thousands of visiting pedestrians.
