Residents share the palace promontory with sovereign security details and regular ceremonial guards.
关于此地
The palace remains the fortified private residence and active governing seat of the sovereign Grimaldi dynasty.
The site originated as a Genoese military fortress before becoming the permanent fortified household of the Grimaldi dynasty. Hostile foreign armies repeatedly bombarded and besieged the stronghold during regional power struggles. The ruling family held the defensive compound through changing political alliances, eventually transitioning from local feudal overlords into internationally recognized sovereign princes.

Monaco maintained sovereign authority over the palace through delicate diplomatic agreements with larger neighbouring states. Today the fortified complex operates as the primary working residence of the Sovereign Prince rather than a detached museum piece. Administrative functions and state security protocols continue to shape daily access across the surrounding grounds and connecting town corridors.
