A neoclassical sanctuary anchors the historic urban parish.

Étienne-Hippolyte Godde designed the present neoclassical basilica following the Restoration of the French Monarchy. The sanctuary holds national historical monument status and carries a dedication to the Annunciation. An earlier chapel on the grounds originally honoured Saint Louis and Saint Barbara before receiving the Bonne Nouvelle title. The surrounding district and the local transit stop take their names from the church.

Armed conflict shaped the site through repeated cycles of destruction and rebuilding. The Catholic League demolished the original sanctuary during the siege led by the future monarch Henry. Queen Anne of Austria later laid the cornerstone for a replacement church. Severe devastation during the French Revolution compromised the structure until crews demolished the remnants, clearing the parcel for the current neoclassical hall.
