关于此地
The Coca Museum examines the cultural role of the coca leaf alongside the chemical development of cocaine.
The exhibition space on Calle Linares traces the botanical and social trajectory of the coca plant across the Andean territory. Displays contrast indigenous ceremonial and medicinal chewing with the industrial synthesis of cocaine. Visitors encounter historical documentation demonstrating how traditional mastication served highland workers, countering persistent outside conflations of the raw shrub with the refined narcotic.

Bolivian scientist Jorge Hurtado established the institution to anchor public debate in clinical and pharmacological research. The collection maintains a direct affiliation with the International Coca Research Institute, an organisation headquartered in Amsterdam. This research partnership provides international scientific backing to local exhibits, framing the leaf as a complex botanical subject rather than a contraband derivative.
