Manzil haqida

A hillside real estate billboard turned into a global film landmark above Beachwood Canyon.

Woodruff and Shoults raised the original lettering on Mount Lee to market plots in a hillside housing development. Pack animals hauled support poles up the steepest dirt slopes above Beachwood Canyon. The installation spelled out Hollywoodland using wood and sheet metal, intended to stand temporarily rather than permanently.

Decades of exposure rotted the timber frames and high winds collapsed parts of the lettering. Demolition proposals prompted civic intervention, leading the Chamber of Commerce to drop the final four letters. Rebuilding projects replaced the decaying wood with steel columns anchored directly into concrete foundations.
