Daily commuters use this southern steel span to avoid central gridlock between perimeter neighbourhoods. Anyone settling nearby trades inner-city convenience for long, wind-exposed transit walks.
The crossing spans the Danube to connect the settlements of Buda and Pest along their southern perimeters. Engineer Tibor Sigrai designed the steel girder structure to carry everyday transit away from the historical center. Long-term residents use the route to move between outer districts without entering central bottlenecks.
Living near the southern crossing means relying on a purely utilitarian transit link rather than a promenade. The exposed steel girder frame offers little shelter from river winds during seasonal shifts. Daily commuters cross here for direct transport access, accepting a functional urban corridor over scenic riverfront strolls.
