Про місце

UBS Arena operates as a dedicated indoor hockey and entertainment venue on the grounds of Belmont Park.

Built just outside the New York City line in Elmont, the arena houses the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League. The team relocated to this site following tenures at Nassau Coliseum and Barclays Center. Because the property borders the Belmont Park thoroughbred racetrack, sports writers and local hockey fans nicknamed the building The Stable.

The venue resolved years of displacement for the franchise. At Barclays Center, an arena designed primarily for basketball, hockey fans encountered obstructed sightlines while skaters criticized poor ice conditions. Earlier development plans under the Lighthouse Project collapsed over local zoning disputes before developers secured Belmont Park over a rival soccer stadium bid.
