Про місце

A dedicated urban motorway loop channels through traffic directly into central Leeds.

The South West Urban Motorway was designed to channel regional traffic into central Leeds from Gildersome Street through the Beeston Interchange. Instead of bypassing the metropolitan core like an ordinary bypass, the route directs vehicles straight toward a central roundabout terminus. Commuters moving to the area encounter heavy freight bottlenecks where the trans-Pennine corridor funnels directly into downtown streets.

Contractor A.F. Budge of Nottinghamshire built the Ingram Road Distributor to distribute motorway traffic into southern industrial districts. The alignment expanded when regional authorities diverted the mainline motorway network east of Leeds, redesignating the inward branch as part of the continuous urban loop. Daily motorists face compressed weaving sections and rapid speed drops where the elevated highway meets local lanes.
