Omotesandō stretches as a tree-lined avenue between the Meiji Shrine entrance and Aoyama-dōri.

Created during the Taishō era, the avenue began as the formal frontal approach to Meiji Shrine to honor Emperor Meiji and Empress Shōken. The boulevard spans the administrative boundary between Shibuya and Minato wards, terminating at Aoyama-dōri. Mature zelkova trees line the entire street layout, creating a shaded pedestrian corridor that contrasts sharply with the surrounding dense urban wards.
