A story about the Work and Travel program How did I find out about the program? Seeing America… it’s a long-held dream. Perhaps my favorite movies and series filmed by American studios, English songs, and even the beloved GTA had a big influence on this;) I found out about the Work and Travel program quite a long time ago, while in middle school, I think, like most people, through YouTube;) Since then, my recommendations have been perfectly tuned, and I often got lost watching videos about the States. But, watching the beautiful picture from computer and phone screens, this big dream seemed like something very distant and unattainable, something exclusively for the “chosen ones,” the “rich,” the “specially gifted,” in general, not like everyone else… or… not like me… But that was until a certain point. Then I found out that an acquaintance of mine was in America and, as it turned out, through this program! What a surprise it was! He could do it! That means it’s possible! Why am I any worse? After looking at his photos, supplemented by a bunch of interesting stories about the experience gained at the workplace, the town he lived in, and the second bright part of the program - traveling, I realized - I need to act! This is not a dream, this is a desire and a goal! So what did I learn about the Work and Travel program? Work and Travel is a program that brings together thousands, tens of thousands of students from all over the world to the USA during summer vacation, a program that gives you the opportunity not only to immerse yourself in “American life,” but also to learn about a number of other nationalities, their culture and everyday life, as well as introduce them to your own native culture and, likely, break many stereotypes and prejudices. The coolest thing about the program, in my opinion, is its duration, because during this time you can really get to know a new country, its residents, the peculiarities of their mentality, their traditions, as well as the division of the program into two parts, actually, Work and Travel. To work hard all summer so that with money earned independently, you can think through all the details and go on an unforgettable trip! And how much beauty you can see: The main symbol of America, reflecting the entire essence of the American mentality – the Statue of Liberty, the lights of the never-sleeping Times Square, the most beautiful and well-known Central Park, the tallest building in New York – the majestic Empire State Building, the beautiful Brooklyn Bridge, without exaggeration, a WONDER of nature – Niagara Falls, the visiting card of the state of Arizona - the spectacular and majestic Grand Canyon, and the biggest dream – the most famous bridge in the world, that very embodiment of beautiful San Francisco – the Golden Gate Bridge! Of course, a huge desire to visit the heart of the state of Massachusetts – Boston, the great, oldest university in the USA – Harvard University, to visit Los Angeles, to get acquainted with the main embodiment of the world film industry – Hollywood, to walk along the famous Walk of Fame, to be a guest of the most famous amusement parks in the world – Disneyland and Disneyworld, Universal Studios and, I am convinced, many, many more, no less beautiful and wonderful places! What do I hope to learn and achieve by becoming a participant in the program? Of course, first of all, to get to know the country, its local residents, to learn the peculiarities of their culture from the inside, to make friends and acquaintances from other countries, to improve my spoken English, to plunge into the world of independence, responsibility, household management, making important decisions without anyone’s help, TRAVELING and, of course, a bunch of new emotions and impressions! Perhaps the most relevant topic, besides "Work," is "Travel." I think in this blog I will answer all the burning questions. WHERE TO GO DURING YOUR FIRST SUMMER IN AMERICA? HOW IS IT BEST TO TRAVEL? And of course: HOW TO SPEND LESS MONEY? So, WHERE TO GO DURING YOUR FIRST SUMMER IN AMERICA? Most likely, you already know the answer to this question without me, although everyone has their own opinion. Of course, the first time in America, you need to visit all the top spots. Unfortunately, I haven't been to all of them, but I think by combining my experience and the experience of my friends, I can reveal the charms of each place to you, and my tips will prove useful. First of all, you need to visit New York, and that was the first place I ended up, well, after the airport of course. Unfortunately, I was in New York, you could say just passing through, and I was only at Times Square. Places that I want and plan to visit, and which my friends have visited and were delighted with, are: Empire State Building – you must go to the very top. Statue of Liberty – it is desirable not just to see it, but to see it from the ferry. Central Park – you need to visit, if only because it is an incredibly beautiful place. Joker Stairs – for me, this place has become a new goal. The Plaza – the hotel from the movie "Home Alone." American Museum of Natural History – quite an interesting museum in itself, and the filming location for the movie "Night at the Museum." These are just some of the attractions of huge New York, there are still a bunch of places that will not leave you indifferent. But as you might have noticed, all these places have appeared in many iconic films, and in general, it seems to me that America is one big continuous movie! So, the main advice I can give regarding traveling around New York is that it is better to do it when you have just arrived, while you have not yet started working, you can easily break away, not worry that you will not have enough time, and most importantly, while you are not tired. The next place is Los Angeles, California. I think everyone here will agree that without the Hollywood Hills, Universal Studios, the Walk of Fame, Beverly Hills, and the Pacific coast, America is not America. I went on this trip as part of a tour with a large group, but I advise you to go with friends on your own, it is much more convenient and interesting to discover everything yourself and stop in the places where you want and for as long as you want. Also, I visited Miami, and I must say that this place is the one I remember most, and the memories from there are the brightest, most colorful, and warmest. When I arrived in Miami, I was there for one day, and then I boarded a cruise ship that traveled around the Bahamas for 5 days, then returned to Miami again and was there for another 4 days. There are no special attractions in Miami, but there are the most beautiful beaches (Miami beach), and the coolest parties in the Spanish style. This is a very soulful place! But the most important advice – definitely travel on a cruise ship, you will not regret it. There you will truly feel like royalty, find interesting activities and programs for yourself, and make new acquaintances, and most importantly, truly relax. Also, I advise you to visit Washington to feel the atmosphere of America and visit famous places. Visit Niagara Falls, as the most incredible place, this sight will make you hold your breath and open your mouth in admiration. It was also very interesting to visit Las Vegas, the most sparkling city, and the Grand Canyon, at the sight of which you will also be breathless. And a few more tips: 1) Do not plan several trips in a row, you will get tired and the desire to travel and discover the world will disappear, and it may also happen that you want to stay somewhere longer, then you will have to change plane tickets, and this is extra spending; 2) Try street and national food, this will create a special atmosphere; 3) Of co

New York is an endless topic of conversation, a special world that, it seemed to me, lives by its own rules. It is also the most popular tourist city in the world. There are many places in New York that are a must-visit. But, unfortunately, I only managed to visit some of them. I will start, perhaps, with that tragic place known to the whole world – World Trade Center, where the Twin Towers once stood. Two fountains, symbolizing the tears and pain of the American people, serve as a reminder of those events. I think that anyone who has had the chance to visit New York will definitely visit this place. World Trade Center And how could I miss Lower Manhattan, Wall Street, and Times Square? Despite my limited time, I couldn't help but go there, and also take the opportunity to see the Statue of Liberty with my own eyes. The Brooklyn Bridge, all lit up, which connects two parts of the city – Brooklyn and Manhattan – left a huge impression. The narrow street of Wall Street led us to the huge bronze statue of a bull, which is the unofficial symbol of New York's Financial District and represents strength and assertiveness. Everyone strives to touch it for financial luck, which, of course, we did too)) Nighttime Brooklyn bridge Times Square is the most popular place in New York. A stunning sight – lights, advertisements, crowds of people, boutiques, theaters – Times Square combines all of this. I was amazed by the four-story M&M’s store with huge capsules of colorful M&M’s candies. I also really wanted to visit Central Park, Empire State Building, Madison Square Garden, but I didn't manage to… Well, that's a reason to return to New York and definitely see the rest with my own eyes ))) Times Square – pure madness M&M’s – that's what I love)
