Siaogang Airport anchors international and domestic air travel across southern districts.

The airfield began as an Imperial Japanese Army base before conversion to civil aviation and subsequent elevation to international status. Today the facility operates dedicated domestic and international terminals alongside an east-west runway. Direct routes expanded from regional Asian destinations to include cross-strait services and low-cost carriers, maintaining passenger volume just behind Taoyuan.

Passengers board the Kaohsiung Metro Red Line right at the terminal to reach the main railway station and high-speed rail platforms at Zuoying.
