Konum hakkında

Cayenne Félix Eboué Airport operates as the main international aerodrome connecting the territory to global flight paths from its base in Matoury.

The United States military originally established aviation here by constructing the Gallion landing strip to route transatlantic bombers toward Africa. France later purchased the installation, developing modern runways while leaving the abandoned wartime strip visible nearby. Commercial passenger flights share airfield space directly with military air base operations under management by the regional chamber of commerce.

The aerodrome previously carried the name Rochambeau, sparking prolonged public controversy due to the namesake family role in suppressing the Haitian Revolution. Following legislative petitions led by Christiane Taubira and proposals honoring indigenous leader Cépérou, authorities formally renamed the facility after Félix Éboué. Long-term arrivals discover that reaching capital neighborhoods requires coordinating private road transit.
