О месте

Kosrae International Airport sits on an artificial island built directly upon the reef.

The airfield provides the primary air connection for the easternmost state of the Federated States of Micronesia. Civil engineers built the runway infrastructure directly on an artificial island positioned within the local reef system. All ground traffic arriving from or heading toward the aircraft apron must cross an open causeway that links the ocean terminal to the coastal roadway network on the main island.

Because the terminal stands entirely detached from the coastline, movement between flights and regional centers depends on the connecting causeway corridor. Any local transport or cargo delivery heading toward administrative points across Tofol operates through this marine passageway. The surrounding reef waters define the perimeter of the airfield, making weather and ocean access central considerations for island travel.
