Sobre o local

Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib stands in Chandni Chowk as a historic shrine commemorating Guru Tegh Bahadur.

The complex occupies the ground in Chandni Chowk where Guru Tegh Bahadur was executed by imperial decree under Aurangzeb. Inside the shrine, attendants preserve the trunk of the tree from the execution site alongside the well the Guru used while imprisoned. The neighbouring Mughal police post where his followers faced interrogation was later incorporated into the site under the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.

Sikh commander Baghel Singh established the initial shrine after negotiating rights with Emperor Shah Alam to build upon sanctified ground. A local Muslim resident whose father witnessed the execution pointed out the exact spot beside the mosque wall. Builder Rai Bahadur Narain Singh later erected the standing structure, while the national army Sikh Regiment honours the location with a formal parade salute.
