Sobre o local

Emba Soira stands as the highest elevation in the country, anchoring the southern highlands along the Great Rift Valley.

The summit forms the apex of the national terrain, rising out of the Eritrean Highlands to mark the greatest altitude in the country. Geologically, these highland ridges define the western flank of the Great Rift Valley as the continental fault cuts northward toward the Red Sea. The surrounding scarp creates sharp ecological divisions between the temperate plateaus and the arid coastal lowlands.

Administratively positioned in the southeastern sector of the Debub region, the massif sits isolated from major urban infrastructure. Base camps and field operations depend on supplies hauled from regional market towns across rugged mountain trails. Long stays demand complete self-reliance regarding power, communication, and transport across steep, unpaved highland terrain.
