About the place

Disused runway grounds split the urban layout between bustling quarters.

Nouakchott Old Airport designates the former aviation airfield embedded directly inside the urban footprint of the capital. Commercial airlines relocated away from these grounds, leaving an extensive open tract of desert terrain and decommissioned runways amidst expanding municipal quarters. The perimeter stands as a wide transition zone between central commercial avenues and surrounding residential settlements.
