Busch Gardens Williamsburg anchors a commercial hospitality corridor in James City County, operating year-round across several European themed villages.

The property originated from an investment partnership between brewing executive Gussie Busch and preservationist Winthrop Rockefeller. Developed alongside a corporate brewery, housing developments, and the Kingsmill Resort, the destination expanded beyond a seasonal summer attraction. Corporate ownership later transferred to United Parks & Resorts, and operations transitioned into a permanent year-round schedule.

Getting around the expansive layout requires relying on specialized internal transit rather than walking alone. Outlying parking facilities connect to the main gates through dedicated tram lines. Inside the grounds, a narrow-gauge railway powered by steam locomotives carries passengers between Heatherdowns, Festa Italia, and New France, while an overhead skyride links the Banbury Cross, Aquitaine, and Rhinefeld sections.
