The LDS Conference Center functions as the principal assembly hall for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, hosting general conferences and major assemblies in downtown Salt Lake City.

The complex stands in downtown Salt Lake City as the primary auditorium for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Construction replaced the operational role of the historic Salt Lake Tabernacle, moving massive institutional gatherings across the street. The auditorium hosts the church's twice-yearly general conference sessions, alongside civic assemblies, community concerts, and churchwide devotional programs.

For long-term residents, the facility shapes local downtown transit rhythms rather than daily tourist crowds. When semiannual church general conferences convene, surrounding downtown avenues experience intense pedestrian traffic and temporary transit adjustments. Once the weekend sessions conclude, the area immediately resumes its standard pace, leaving the immense hall and its adjacent grounds uncrowded between scheduled assemblies.
