Researchers base their work around the Thurston Gardens grounds and quickly adjust to the deliberate pace of island archival inquiries.
The Fiji Museum holds the premier archaeological and cultural collection of the archipelago within the grounds of Thurston Gardens.
A voluntary association called the Friends of Fiji Museum founded the institution to preserve regional heritage. The collection originally operated out of the old Town Hall and shifted between multiple venues before establishing its permanent home in Thurston Gardens under Governor Sir Ronald Garvey. The institution also participates in the Museums and Climate Change Network to address regional environmental threats.
