Canillo functions as the religious center of Andorra as the home of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Meritxell, the patron saint of the country. After the historic building was destroyed by fire, architect Ricardo Bofill Levi designed a replacement sanctuary. The site forms part of the Marian Route alongside several prominent Pyrenean shrines.

The parish features the Romanesque church of Sant Joan de Caselles, which preserves historic mural painting and an imported altarpiece. In the town center, the parish church of Sant Serni retains Baroque structural and interior elements. Smaller historical chapels include Sant Miquel de Prats and Santa Creu de Canillo along the Valira river.

The village of Prats contains the sanctuary of Roc de les Bruixes, a collection of rock engravings from prehistoric and medieval times. The location served as a ritual site where ancient inhabitants gathered stone dust for ointments. Early Christian burial sites have also been documented nearby in the parish.

Canillo maintains a sports center that includes a swimming pool, an ice-skating rink, squash courts, and a gymnasium. The broader parish includes the ski and hiking bases of Soldeu and El Tarter. Local hotels in those settlements organize mountain hiking excursions throughout the surrounding terrain.

The parish preserves traditional stone mountain dwellings alongside historical agricultural structures such as the old flour mill of the Peano. Preserved vernacular buildings in the town center include Ca Armany, Cal Fluix, and Cal Ferrer Nou. Similar historic mountain quarters remain intact in the settlements of Soldeu and Incles.
