Kinniya Bridge carries the national highway across the water between Koddiyar Bay and Tambalagam Bay as the longest bridge in the country.

The structure crosses the tidal lagoon enclosed by Koddiyar Bay and Tambalagam Bay, connecting Trincomalee directly with Kinniya and the Muttur area along the primary highway. It took over the title of the country's longest bridge from Manampitiya Bridge. For residents, the crossing creates an uninterrupted overland artery across the water, eliminating previous transit barriers between the urban center and southern settlements.
