The Royal Palace of Turin anchors the central district as the historic seat of the House of Savoy.

The complex stands on the grounds of the former Bishop's Palace, chosen by Emmanuel Philibert for its clear sightlines over the Palatine and Pretoria gates. Christine Marie directed major modernization of the residence after the civil war, commissioning Baroque architect Filippo Juvarra to reshape the property into the primary seat of Savoy power.

The estate incorporates Palazzo Chiablese and the Chapel of the Holy Shroud, which was constructed to preserve the Shroud of Turin. Royal apartments were divided into seasonal living quarters overlooking the gardens and central courtyards, while Daniel Seiter painted murals inside the Daniel gallery before state ownership transferred the site to the republic.
