The Bazaar of Tabriz remains the largest covered market complex in existence, operating continuously as an active commercial center.

Constructed along ancient Silk Road routes, this UNESCO World Heritage complex forms the largest covered marketplace on earth. Venetian traveler Marco Polo documented commerce across its halls. Strict internal divisions group merchants by specialty, placing gold and jewelry in Amir Bazaar and dedicated footwear vendors inside Bashmakhchi Bazaar.
