NTR Gardens occupies central lakeside land developed after clearing the former thermal power station.

NTR Gardens stands on the shore of Hussain Sagar in central Hyderabad, occupying ground cleared by demolishing an old thermal power station. The park developed around a memorial for former chief minister N. T. Rama Rao under the wider Buddha Purnima Project. The Buddha Purnima Project Authority manages the property alongside nearby Lumbini Park and the Necklace Road corridor.
