A story about the Work and Travel program How did I find out about the program? Seeing America… it’s a long-held dream. Perhaps my favorite movies and series filmed by American studios, English songs, and even the beloved GTA had a big influence on this;) I found out about the Work and Travel program quite a long time ago, while in middle school, I think, like most people, through YouTube;) Since then, my recommendations have been perfectly tuned, and I often got lost watching videos about the States. But, watching the beautiful picture from computer and phone screens, this big dream seemed like something very distant and unattainable, something exclusively for the “chosen ones,” the “rich,” the “specially gifted,” in general, not like everyone else… or… not like me… But that was until a certain point. Then I found out that an acquaintance of mine was in America and, as it turned out, through this program! What a surprise it was! He could do it! That means it’s possible! Why am I any worse? After looking at his photos, supplemented by a bunch of interesting stories about the experience gained at the workplace, the town he lived in, and the second bright part of the program - traveling, I realized - I need to act! This is not a dream, this is a desire and a goal! So what did I learn about the Work and Travel program? Work and Travel is a program that brings together thousands, tens of thousands of students from all over the world to the USA during summer vacation, a program that gives you the opportunity not only to immerse yourself in “American life,” but also to learn about a number of other nationalities, their culture and everyday life, as well as introduce them to your own native culture and, likely, break many stereotypes and prejudices. The coolest thing about the program, in my opinion, is its duration, because during this time you can really get to know a new country, its residents, the peculiarities of their mentality, their traditions, as well as the division of the program into two parts, actually, Work and Travel. To work hard all summer so that with money earned independently, you can think through all the details and go on an unforgettable trip! And how much beauty you can see: The main symbol of America, reflecting the entire essence of the American mentality – the Statue of Liberty, the lights of the never-sleeping Times Square, the most beautiful and well-known Central Park, the tallest building in New York – the majestic Empire State Building, the beautiful Brooklyn Bridge, without exaggeration, a WONDER of nature – Niagara Falls, the visiting card of the state of Arizona - the spectacular and majestic Grand Canyon, and the biggest dream – the most famous bridge in the world, that very embodiment of beautiful San Francisco – the Golden Gate Bridge! Of course, a huge desire to visit the heart of the state of Massachusetts – Boston, the great, oldest university in the USA – Harvard University, to visit Los Angeles, to get acquainted with the main embodiment of the world film industry – Hollywood, to walk along the famous Walk of Fame, to be a guest of the most famous amusement parks in the world – Disneyland and Disneyworld, Universal Studios and, I am convinced, many, many more, no less beautiful and wonderful places! What do I hope to learn and achieve by becoming a participant in the program? Of course, first of all, to get to know the country, its local residents, to learn the peculiarities of their culture from the inside, to make friends and acquaintances from other countries, to improve my spoken English, to plunge into the world of independence, responsibility, household management, making important decisions without anyone’s help, TRAVELING and, of course, a bunch of new emotions and impressions! How will participating in the program help my future career? I am currently a second-year university student majoring in Tourism. I think that participating in the program will make a huge contribution to my d

Friends! Our long and exciting journey through the United States of America has come to an end! It would have been great to cover this huge country with its beautiful cities and parks in its entirety! But I want to share with you my own impressions from the places we managed to visit!😊😊😊 I want to start by saying that this was my first and already such a grand trip abroad! Of course, there were worries and anxieties, which quickly dissipated on the day when, filled with joyful emotions and, most importantly, the realization that we had passed the interview, we walked out of the US Embassy! Yes, we are flying to America!✈️✈️✈️ So, visas are issued, tickets are bought, suitcases are packed, and we were ready to start conquering the country! START✅ Our voyage began in the small tourist town of Ogunquit, located in the state of Maine, where we spent three magical months! Every day, it was a pleasure to stroll through the streets of this cozy town! Here, as in other cities we visited later, you can hear short but so pleasant phrases from everyone you meet, such as "Hi, my darling!", "No problem", "Have a good day!", "Have a fun", "Feel free", "Enjoy!", "Stay cool!", which charge you with positivity for the whole day!😊😊😊 You also can't help but notice the perfectly manicured patterned American lawns⛳️🌿🌿🌳 and the peculiar architecture of each house,🏡🏘🏯📬📬📰🗞 which we are only familiar with from movies!🎞📹📽 But at the very epicenter 💫 of our attention, as one might guess from the geographical location of the city🌎, was the Atlantic Ocean, holding many secrets, stories, and mysteries!🌊🌊🌊 And one could endlessly admire the enchanting view of bright blue waves framed by lace of milk foam, 🌊 rushing to the shore during a headwind🕊, the mysterious and alluring distance, enjoy the fresh and at the same time salty air, and peer into the trembling blue, finding the subtle outlines of seagulls, 🕊🕊🕊 flickering nearby 🌊🌊🌊 All this was undoubtedly a feast for the eyes! It was here that we managed to taste lobster!😃 And afterwards, there were endless walks to the city's attractions-the famous Marginal Way and Perkins Cove, where a beautiful view of the ocean opened up!⛰🌊⛰ There are many antique shops in this city, after visiting which you get the impression that you are in a museum!🎻🏛⛪️🎎 It was here that we first came into contact with American culture after watching a musical based on the life of Elvis Presley, where the energy specific to a musical was transmitted along with the rhythms of jazz🎷🎷🎷🎹💃💃 We also visited all the art galleries located in the vicinity of the city🖼🖼🎥 and enjoyed the wonderful masterpieces of modern American art! But autumn came unnoticed🍂 🍁🍂, and we still had many plans ahead! 🗺 It was very sad to part with this beautiful and cozy city, with our new friends... Despite the fact that it was the middle of September, the streets of Ogunquit were already filled with the atmosphere of Halloween!🎃🎃🎃 Just at the sight of an orange vegetable, we felt a festive mood! This is how Ogunquit remained for us, a city that creates a cozy and romantic idyll!💜💛💚 Our first stop was the wonderful city of Portland, the birthplace of the famous writer Stephen King!📚📖 This is actually one of the greenest cities in America☘️🍀🌳, a modern metropolis full of movement! 🌎 Portland's architecture includes a number of remarkable buildings and a wide range of styles.🏯🏛🏘⛪️ The world-famous International Rose Test Garden is also located there! 🌷🌹🥀🌹 Next, we went to Boston! The first trip on the subway was to Harvard University. The old red brick buildings with carved arches were a sight to behold! And it's not difficult at all to meet squirrels in the university park area!🍀🍃 Walking through the streets of Boston, we enjoyed the architecture characteristic of New England. In general, Boston is a city with a great history that played an important role in the US War of Independence. We manag

Instruction: 'How to spend an unforgettable 2 days in Boston, or the adventures of Lena and Liza'. To spend an unforgettable 2 days in Boston, you will need: 1) Yourself - an adventure lover (Lena, or as Americans called me at best Lina, at worst Lyana) 2) Your friend, an avid adventure seeker, Liza 3) A bit of money, since it won't be enough for accommodation anyway, and you'll have plenty of clothes by the end of the trip) 4) A backpack or bag with the essentials (by the way, you'll need money for what you'll successfully forget at home... but you'll take a useless but heavy hair straightener and whine the whole time about how heavy the bag is) Well, you've packed, realized from previous times using Greyhound that it's an expensive company, and you head to Chinatown on the B or D train to Grand Street station. There are many wonderful little offices here that will take you to Boston for twenty bucks, and the buses run every hour and are no less comfortable than Greyhound, because the Chinese are hardworking!!))) I also forgot that both you and your friend must be sleep-deprived, because in New York, sleeping is just a waste of time! - that's the golden rule. We jumped on the bus and had 4 hours to catch up on sleep. Once again, when you're traveling, you realize that Americans mow their lawns even outside the city... Funny. I don't know why, but I found us so funny)) When we got off the bus and it finally dawned on us that we were in a new city, not a single acquaintance, no map... we didn't despair, Americans are kind people (well, the ones we met) and the first policeman we met gave us each a city and subway map, and even explained where we were and how to get to the center (he couldn't understand for a long time which center we were interested in, but then he realized it was the tourist one). As a responsible person, I tore the pages about Boston out of the 'Discover America' book and we knew exactly what we wanted to see! So, we are already in the oldest and most famous park in the city, somewhere here there should be monuments to the Boston Massacre and a monument dedicated to the Declaration of Independence (as a future international lawyer, it was interesting for me to see this monument). In this same park, we found a tourist center and grabbed a bunch of brochures about Boston museums and excursions. We got fired up with the desire to go see the Salem witches...)))) Yeah, in the second half of the day, don't forget to think about where you're going to spend the night!!! This is important because the bus station doesn't count)) Then we decided to go to Harvard University... mmmmm, this is what I was striving for in Boston! Dreams... to be near Harvard Law School... they came true, where the blonde in Legally Blonde studied... of course, that's not the main thing, that Elle Woods studied there, but that I touched the abode of knowledge, maybe someday I will study there (when I save up a crazy amount of dollars=))). We walked around the campus with our mouths open, well, because it's Harvard University, it's a whole mini-town where there are only students and teachers, where there is a completely different air and atmosphere... We took pictures with the statue of John Harvard, rubbed his shoe (we saw graduates from the year 19-something doing it, apparently there was a reunion that day and we decided it was a good omen... but as it turned out later... not a very good one, local students told us that there is a tradition that freshmen pee on Harvard's shoe...). When it started to get dark, we remembered that we should ask where there are hostels here))) Then we noticed a donkey walking down the street... or rather a boy in a donkey costume. Of course, we wanted to take a picture with him))) The donkey didn't mind, and we asked him about a place to stay. The donkey turned out to be very kind and said he would help us and not leave us on the street, and at the same time give us a tour of the university)) He showed us the l
