Port of Piraeus functions as the primary maritime gateway for the Greek capital, handling container freight alongside passenger routes to the Aegean islands.

Natural silting connected the ancient island terrain to the mainland before classical naval fortifications took shape. Concession agreements with an international shipping operator now drive major container throughput, cruise berthing, and automotive terminal activity.
