Informazioni sul luogo

Granite industrial architecture anchors the heritage of the parish.

Antiga fàbrica de pells stands in Escaldes-Engordany as a protected industrial monument designed by architect Xavier Pla. Built as a specialized leather workshop, the structure showcases the regional tradition of dressed granite masonry in the high valleys. Symmetrical rows of latticed windows define the primary block, while an adjoining triangular annex conforms directly to the sloping mountain terrain.

The site pairs functional manufacturing halls with an integrated residence featuring an exterior balcony above the workshop floors. Solid ashlar masonry and chamfered rooflines shield the eastern and southern entrances against harsh alpine weather. Official registration on the national cultural heritage catalog preserves the compound as an authentic specimen of purposeful stone construction rather than converted mountain housing.
