Regular concertgoers treat the auditorium as both a home base for the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and a platform for touring national acts.
Locals originally nicknamed the venue the Rocking Chair Theatre when it opened as the city's earliest multi-screen cinema. The building weathered theatrical competition by screening second-run films and cult screenings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show before briefly shifting to faith-based programming. Venue operators later eliminated the rocking chairs to create flexible floor space for standing and seated audiences.
The Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra acquired the property to secure a permanent base for administrative offices, rehearsals, and a dedicated music library. Grassroots local concerts initially established the venue's reputation before national tours began booking the stage. Today the complex maintains a main auditorium alongside an additional room for smaller gigs, presenting chamber music alongside rock, jazz, and comedy.
