Long Wharf and Customhouse Block: ce qu’il y a autour, comment y aller et quand venir · 2026

Residents rely on this stone pier for daily ferry crossings across the water to Charlestown and Logan Airport, swapping underground trains for open-deck harbor commutes.

Carte des lieux
À propos du lieu

Long Wharf anchors the downtown waterfront as Boston's historic deepwater pier and primary harbor ferry terminal.

Captain Oliver Noyes originally built the pier out into deep water so heavy cargo vessels could dock and unload directly into waterfront warehouses. Successive land reclamation projects filled in the surrounding harbor to build market squares, while highway construction later cut the wharf off from the financial core. Sinking that road underground restored the direct walkway between downtown streets and the waterfront.

Commuters and seasonal travelers gather along the seaward plaza to board MBTA water ferries bound for Charlestown Navy Yard, Hull, Quincy, and the airport. Subway trains on the Blue Line call at the adjacent station, turning this historic pier into an active coastal interchange.
