pont Paton: ce qu’il y a autour, comment y aller et quand venir · 2026

Commuters crossing between the banks depend on the Small Ring Road, where rush-hour congestion dictates daily schedules for cross-river residents.

Carte des lieux
À propos du lieu

Kyiv relies on Paton Bridge as a pioneering welded river crossing that carries Small Ring Road traffic.

Named after constructor Evgeny Paton, the structure spans the Dnipro as the longest crossing in Kyiv and an early global milestone in all-welded engineering. The American Welding Society recognized its all-welded design as a unique technical achievement. Early upgrades introduced physical guardrails between pedestrian paths and roadway lanes, establishing a separation model never previously deployed across the Soviet Union.

Commuters encounter a demanding transit corridor along the Small Ring Road. Municipal authorities eliminated streetcar tracks across the span to expand automobile capacity and relieve rush-hour bottlenecks. The resulting roadway layout introduced a central reversible lane, which increased traffic incidents and head-on collisions. Subsequent safety adjustments brought overhead lighting and structural overhauls.
