FCDO no longer advises against all travel to volcanoes in Indonesia and will no longer advise against all travel in the event of future volcanic eruptions. FCDO have added new information about volcanoes in Indonesia, including information from the local authorities who enforce exclusion zones on a number of volcanically active sites (See ‘Warnings and insurance’ and ‘Safety and security’ pages).

Exercise increased caution in Indonesia due to risk of natural disasters , unrest , and terrorism . Some areas have increased risk. Read the entire Travel Advisory. Unrest Demonstrations occur frequently in Indonesia, and they are a normal part of the political landscape, but the type, size, and impact vary significantly, and some demonstrations can turn violent. Avoid demonstrations and crowds.
