À propos du lieu

Doric colonnades frame the stone ledge directly above Theresienwiese.

Leo von Klenze designed the structure for Ludwig I of Bavaria using Kelheim limestone. The architectural plan features a central range flanked by projecting wings to form an extended Doric colonnade. Its classical facade defines the boundary between the green expanse behind the building and the open grounds below the monument.

The structure occupies an ancient ledge above Theresienwiese in Munich, raising the colonnade above the open plain. Builders integrated the monument into a broader complex that encompasses both the adjacent Bavaria statue and Bavariapark. This placement provides direct park paths behind the hall alongside an open panoramic view across the lower grounds.
