À propos du lieu

Budge-Palais provides the primary setting for public conservatory training in Rotherbaum.

The institution originated as a private acting school operated by Annemarie Marks-Rocke and Eduard Marks before establishing itself as a state institution. Budge-Palais in the Rotherbaum district became its central home, providing formal performance halls and administrative space. The curriculum expanded beyond instrumental training to incorporate theater programs, turning the site into a prominent German music academy.

Subsequent growth added specialized facilities for performance and music education alongside a dedicated library building. Daily academic life extends beyond the palace grounds because drama instruction operates from the separate Theaterakademie campus in the Hamburg-Barmbek district. Long-term residents in the area experience an active rhythm shaped by student practice, public recitals, and transit between campuses.
