Sobre el lugar

Qarshi balances its historical role as an oasis junction with an economy anchored in regional gas production and irrigated agriculture.

Long before modern pipelines arrived, caravans stopped here on the southern desert route between Bukhara and Balkh. Mongol khans and Timur built fortified palaces across the oasis, leaving behind madrassahs and trading compounds that defined the former emirate stronghold. Today, irrigated farmland surrounds the center, supporting continuous yields of cotton, wheat, and traditional flat-woven carpets.

Daily life for temporary residents centers on compact residential quarters where Russian assists with basic interactions, but Uzbek remains indispensable for daily business and regional paperwork. Shared minibuses handle urban commutes across town, while domestic flights and trains link the settlement to Tashkent. Winter stays require private heating arrangements, and specialized medical treatments demand travel to the capital.
