Dealul Mitropoliei anchors Romanian Orthodox administration and daily religious life above the city centre.

Prince Constantin Șerban ordered the construction of the cathedral, which stands as a designated historical monument on Dealul Mitropoliei. Its exterior preserves a Brâncovenesc façade, while the interior features frescoes completed by Dimitrie Belizarie. Although earlier decorations were lost, the original icon depicting Constantine and Helen remains intact, maintaining the dedication to the patron saints of the complex.

The site operates alongside the Palace of the Chamber of Deputies of the Patriarchate as a working administrative and liturgical centre. Services rely on an unaccompanied choir during the Divine Liturgy, following Eastern Orthodox custom. Major observances bring large gatherings, notably during the Palm Sunday pilgrimage. The grounds also carry political history, marked by the assassination of Prime Minister Barbu Catargiu.
