Akbari Sarai- Distancia
- 208 m

Fieldworkers exploring the Shahdara complex commute across the Ravi River away from modern central districts, trading urban commercial amenities for immediate daily access to layered Mughal monuments.
The mausoleum stands in the centre of a Persian Charbagh garden and honors the Mughal statesman Asif Khan, brother to Empress Nur Jahan and brother-in-law to Emperor Jahangir. Emperor Shah Jahan commissioned the memorial following the statesman's death. The structure sits directly west of the Tomb of Jahangir, aligned along an architectural axis that is formally interrupted by the monumental enclosure of the Akbari Sarai.
Extensive stripping occurred during the era of Sikh rule across Punjab. Rulers Gujjar Singh, Lahna Singh, and Subha Singh planted dense pipal trees that concealed the monument until British administrators removed the vegetation. Later, Ranjit Singh extracted the exterior marble, sandstone facing, and decorative stones to ornament the Golden Temple in Amritsar and supply the Hazuri Bagh Baradari pavilion near the Lahore Fort.
