If you are going to San Francisco…

I have a special connection to San Francisco, so to speak. Whenever I hear the name, Scott McKenzie's song "San Francisco" plays in my head. And the lines: "If you are going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair..." I love this city; you know, it's not your typical American city. Yes, it has skyscrapers, huge traffic jams, cool cars—the list goes on forever—but it's different. The people there are different, somehow; they are kinder, they strive for something, they are constantly growing. And the weather, for me, is just perfect. It's +20 all year round; sure, it could be a bit warmer in summer and colder in winter, but that doesn't change the overall vibe. San Francisco reminds me of Italy in some way. I highly recommend visiting the "Palace of Fine Arts"; then you'll understand what I meant. The architecture there is incredible, and the houses around it also look more European. And if you are traveling as a couple, I recommend a romantic spot called "Shoreline Park." It's actually in Silicon Valley, but it's worth it. Most importantly, bring some food and a blanket; I can tell you for sure, there is plenty to enjoy there, especially at sunset. Of course, don't forget the most important places like the Golden Gate Bridge, Pier 39, Lombard Street, or Twin Peaks. They are a must-visit. I've been to San Francisco twice; apparently, I fell in love with it so much that I returned a second time. I ended my first trip to this city with a hike to "Lands End," and you know, I had only seen such scenery in pictures on the internet. At that moment, tears involuntarily welled up in my eyes, and I felt very sad that in a few hours I would be leaving. For me, it was the perfect place in every sense. And seeing the waves crashing against the rocks is a mesmerizing sight. On my second visit, I dedicated a whole day to the tourist town of Santa Cruz. It's about a two-hour drive from San Francisco, maybe less. For me, it was like a little Los Angeles—the same palm trees, the same beach. You won't believe it, but the weather was even +35, which is very rare for Northern California. You can get there by car or by bus. If you are traveling with a group, order an Uber or Lyft and go for it; it won't be expensive, but if you still want to save money, the bus is also an option. To be honest, I could go on for a long time because I love this city. I want to keep some places as my personal memories of San Francisco. I advise you to visit the places mentioned above. I promise you, you won't be left indifferent.

San Francisco is a disco-style city!

We've finally reached the West Coast, we're at the Pacific Ocean. Our first stop is San Francisco. My first thought was: it actually exists! This city is real and exactly like in the photos! Even better. San Francisco is known for its steep hills, a mix of Victorian and modern architecture, the list goes on... Walking along the inclined streets (sometimes 45-50 degrees) was just wonderful! But we soon got tired of climbing uphill and decided to take a ride on the famous Cable Car. The 'terminal' where the cable car picks up passengers was packed with tourists, the line was definitely half an hour long! We took some photos by it and went for a walk in Chinatown. We bought souvenirs and had a bite to eat, and then the cable car caught up with us. So we got our ride after all! We rode to Lombard Street – the crookedest street in the world. Stunning, I don't think I've seen anything more beautiful. Not the road itself, but the surroundings – the vegetation, flowers, greenery... mmm. Then we headed to Pier 39. We wanted to go to Alcatraz Island, but it turns out you have to book in advance, so we had to settle for photos with the island in the background. Not bad either!:) As an animal lover, I couldn't pass by the San Francisco Zoo, which was conveniently located just a 2-minute walk from our motel. This zoo is probably the most magnificent and well-maintained one I've ever seen. A large area, well-equipped enclosures and cages, lots of trees. In short, pure Wow, Meow, and Baa. By the way, you could feed and brush the goats yourself, although one of them did butt us. And in San Francisco, and throughout California as we realized later, there are a lot of Chinese people. Apparently, it was much closer for them to migrate there. They are quite friendly; I met one woman just by sitting on the bus. In the two stops we rode together, I think I learned her entire family history, about all her children, husbands, dogs, etc.))) In short, San Francisco is pure beauty, picturesque views, and Chinese food everywhere!

Item 13. San Francisco, California

Oh yes...! It was already dawning, as in these southern lands the sun wakes up so early, and because of that, the ten-lane highway leading towards the city was overloaded. Hardworking Americans, sipping Starbucks coffee, were still shaking off sleep and driving their cars to the high-tech production facilities of Silicon Valley, while we were flying to meet the city of our dreams, as we thought, to meet San Francisco. Intentionally entering the city from the North, we anticipated approaching the city's main synonym - the Golden Gate Bridge, which seems red, but is actually painted orange. The first turn - too early, the second turn - missed again, and finally, after the third turn, we saw the absolutely huge, yet infinitely graceful pillars of America's most famous bridge. It is truly beautiful, enormous, and suits the whole city perfectly. It feels as if it was by such a bridge that Europeans once founded the city of San Francisco, or San Fran, as the locals call it. In my opinion, the best photos of this bridge for a simple student-tourist can be taken from the side opposite the city. That is where a stunning observation deck is located, offering a killer view not only of the bridge but of the city itself, Alcatraz Island, and the entire bay. The whole secret is that this is the only observation deck located above the level of the bridge. You look at it from above. All others give you a view from below or at eye level, which, you must agree, is not as impressive for such huge structures. Once more about the bridge. It is worth crossing, but you should also be prepared to part with 6 bucks at the pay-toll. This was the first time we decided to take a toll road; before that, due to our greedy mentality, we had principledly avoided such structures, but this time greed told us that taking a detour would only be more expensive, so we decided to go for it. What was our indescribable happiness when the traffic officer, sitting in the booth and responsible for collecting our fee, recommended not to throw money away in the future, to save the 6 dollars, and spend them on something else. When we logically asked him "Why?", he clearly explained that it was his last day and that he hates his almost-former job. Hooray! We are in San Francisco! And people here clearly think differently. Having barely parked our 'Tractorenok', by the way, in an unauthorized area, we set off to explore the city. It is truly huge, uneven, and located on quite steep hills. People here learn to walk differently, drive differently, and perhaps that is why they think differently. You can only walk here by climbing up, barely moving your knees, or running down with relief, fearing you might trip and break your nose. Driving is even scarier, because you are always driving uphill blindly and there is a probability of running into one of the three hundred thousand Chinese living in the vicinity, or downhill, and then you need to have good brakes to use them in time - we didn't have them. At first glance, the city is very peculiar, unlike other American metropolises. It is very white; there are no familiar two-story cottages and green lawns in front of the house. The city seems stuffed with boxes covered in white plaster, which reminded not only me of a garbage dump. But on the whole, all these irregularities look quite cute and somehow airy. To enjoy the panorama, it is not at all necessary to fly up in the elevator of some skyscraper, as is traditionally done in New York, Chicago, or anywhere else. Here, you just need to work your legs a little and end up on the top of one of the hills, preferably on the top of Russian Hill, which is the very heart of the city and offers an excellent view in all four directions. Right there is also, according to claims, the crookedest street in the world - Lombard Street. Every visiting motorist inevitably strives to drive along it - we were an exception and spared our brakes. By the way, I got the impression that if the relief of
