A story about youth travel and student exchange programs—now and in the future.

Youth travel and student exchange programs are a great way to gain life-changing experiences. They are educational and allow students to grow and meet people from different nationalities. By interacting with various exchange students, we learn about different cultures and histories. The challenges encountered during travel can make a student more resilient and mature. Currently, there are various exchange programs; even high school students can go on an exchange to America (for example, the Flex exchange program). People can also organize their own trips using various resources available today. They can buy tickets, book hotels, and read reviews about the places they want to visit. For example, my family and I bought tickets online and booked a hotel in advance to travel around Turkey. For many students from Kazakhstan, travel is expensive, but in the future, with the development of technology, it will likely become more accessible and simplify the travel process. Currently, it is also becoming popular as students' interest in studying abroad grows. Perhaps in the future, student exchange programs will be more flexible, and students will be able to choose the university, country, and method of study (online/offline). This could expand students' opportunities to gain new experiences and develop language and cultural skills. In the future, America will probably not seem like something unattainable. Perhaps with the development of aviation infrastructure, they will be able to easily travel to other planets. Also, passengers will be able to travel to distant countries without transit, which will reduce flight time. It is likely that in the future, the Internet will work on planes, because during the flight, people can do their work and study online. Also, in twenty years, perhaps foreign students will come to Kazakhstan, just as we go to America. They will travel and work, learning about our culture, traditions, and language. I truly believe in this because I want our Kazakhstan to be a country where everyone would want to visit. And in fifty years, I think travel will become a common thing for everyone. And they will travel all over the world and across the planet, working and studying at the same time. Currently, there are many student exchange programs in operation. For example: Flex, Work and Travel, Bolashak, and every university has exchange programs. Since I study at a medical university, I haven't managed to go on an exchange yet due to quarantine and a difficult 3rd year. But this experience through Work and Travel will make a huge contribution to my development; I think I will become more stress-resistant, communicative, and responsible. After all, these are the most important criteria in my profession. Also, a plus of this program is its duration, because during this time you can get to know a new culture and residents well, work several jobs, and travel with the money earned. And the most important goal is to see all the sights of America that I have seen in series and movies, and satisfy my inner child. I believe that Work and Travel provides invaluable experience, as we will have friends from America and we will be able to tell them about the culture of Kazakhstan and interest them in the features of our native land. Also, after finishing the program, we can keep in touch with them, invite them to Kazakhstan so they can immerse themselves in our culture. Or vice versa, we can get to know their culture. When I went to Turkey with my family, I met cool guys from Turkey and Kazakhstan there, and we got along well. All those days when I was there, we walked around Antalya with them, as they showed us the city, and upon arriving in Kazakhstan, I still keep in touch with them. I think it's cool to have friends from different countries. That's why I support the exchange program, because thanks to the program, you can easily broaden your horizons and find people close to your heart. Another main advantage is that with this p

2. LOTS OF THINGS TO DO AHEAD

June 29, 2010 (1:00 AM in St. Petersburg) Well, my 21st birthday is over. What a gift – a trip to America. I've wanted this for so long. Well, dreams do come true. Although it was quite tough. Work, studies – I had to manage everything for one goal – this trip. But it's okay, I think it will all pay off. I have a feeling I'll remember this for the rest of my life. I'm writing from the airport now, I want to sleep – but I can't, even though it doesn't seem dangerous here. The airport is very beautiful – a surprise. A policeman just sat down 3 steps away, but I wouldn't dare sleep. The nights here are really brighter than in Yaroslavl. Looks like there's a draft again. Waiting for 7:30 AM – my flight. Thoughts about the upcoming visit to the USA have crossed my mind many times – I don't know anything. Complete uncertainty, the unknown. Maybe that makes it more interesting, the experience more valuable. Yes, it's really drafty, I wanted to wait for the plane from Antalya at 3 AM, wanted to see their tan – but I'm going, otherwise I'll catch a cold. I can't afford to get sick – there's a lot to do ahead.
