The location combines ongoing astronomical observation with foundational scientific heritage on a quiet ridge.

Living near the observatory means adjusting to steep climbs along narrow stone-walled lanes with limited public transport. Daily errands demand deliberate descents toward the urban basin, as commercial shops and markets remain down in the valley. Long-term researchers gain dark skies and uninterrupted working conditions, but must manage personal logistics independently without immediate neighbourhood services.
