Σχετικά με τον προορισμό

A former Benedictine abbey houses France's major regional fine arts collection.

The Museum of Fine Arts stands beside Place des Terreaux inside a former Benedictine convent. The complex functioned as a monastic house for religious orders before its transition into a municipal art space. Comprehensive structural restoration modernized the interior rooms while keeping the galleries accessible to the public, preserving the central cloister as an open courtyard.

Permanent gallery displays span ancient Egyptian antiquities through classical sculpture to European modern art movements. Temporary curatorial programmes feature focused monographs of modern painters and sculptors alongside the historical collections. Navigating the sheer scale of the palace wings requires repeated visits rather than a single walkthrough, favoring residents who explore section by section.
